About the Chicago Foreclosure Blog

The Chicago Foreclosure Blog was created to help local attorneys and individuals understand the process of foreclosure in Chicago and Northern Illinois.

After spending an inordinate amount of time working in the trenches of foreclosure litigation and mortgage assistance, I became aware of the fact that there is a dearth of knowledge out there for people in the same situation.  The Illinois Foreclosure statute (known as the IMFL) along with the Illinois Rules of Civil Procedure, are complex laws that are hard for the average individual to navigate effectively.  Compound that fact with local court rules, Federal regulations, and other factors that must be considered, it is extremely difficult for any individual to stand against the litigating power of foreclosing banks.

It is my hope that with this knowledge contained within my blog, defense attorneys will be more effective at protecting Illinois homeowners from foreclosure.

If you are a homeowner seeking to defend your case, please keep in mind this blog is for informational purposes only.  I do not represent you, nor do I recommend you attempt to represent yourself.  If you are defending a foreclosure lawsuit, I highly recommend retaining an experienced attorney to represent you.
